Obertauern. Hotspot Ski Resort High Up in the Mountains

Obertauern is one of the hotspots among the major ski resorts in the Alps. It’s known for snow from November to early May, for après-ski and great events. But also for 100 kilometers of slopes and 26 ski lifts. The Ski-Round Super Seven carries skiers to the 7 highest peaks of Obertauern. Knowing this, I wanted to see and experience it myself. You guys know that I am a huge fan of the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis area, but hey…I am always in for something new! So, last January we went to Obertauern. I was very excited. Would it really be such a hotspot? In terms of ski experience, snow conditions, good cuisine, excellent service and fun in apresski? Expectations were high!

Meet Bartl Enn. The best Edelschnaps brewer in the world

Staying in Hinterglemm this summer surprised us in so many ways. Not only because of the beautiful Alpine Palace New Balance Luxus Resort and its staff, but also because of some quite interesting people who live in this village. For example Flo Wolf and his wood art gallery GlemmArt. I already wrote about him in my Alpine Palace post . But this time I would like to introduce you to Bartl Enn, the best Schnaps Brenner ( brewer ) in the world!

6 Golden tips to have a terrific Oktoberfest

Months ago I had already announced it in one of my earlier posts on Dirndl Trachten. I was planning to go to the Oktoberfest and definitely wanted to experience this event myself. Well, I did it! Booked a flight to Munich, stayed there for 2 days and just got back. I am deeply impressed by what I’ve seen over there. What a blast. So many people and different nationalities. All of them drinking, partying and having fun together at the biggest festival in the world. Great! And because I can still feel the rush of the Wiesn, I want to share my tips with you as soon as possible!

Fashion designer Lena Hoschek. Retrochic meets Dirndl Trachten

Before Lena became the successful fashion designer she is today, she studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute Vienna Hetzendorf. After an 8-month internship at Vivienne Westwood in 2003/2004, she started her own studio in Graz in 2005. In the years after additional stores were opened in Vienna and Berlin and today you can also buy her designs in Italy and Switzerland. She presents two collections a year. These contain dresses, skirts, blouses, pants and pajamas. Besides that she also designs a collection of shoes, swimwear, eyewear and accessories. And if you want to complete it all, you can sprinkle yourself with ‘Loverose’, Hoscheks’ first fragrance.

The Alpine Palace New Balance Luxus Resort. Hinterglemm

We just got back from our summer trip to Austria. The first hotel we booked was The Alpine Palace New Balance Luxus Resort in Hinterglemm. We never stayed here before, so we were very excited what to expect. It turned out to be place that surprised us in a very, very pleasant way. The hotel of course, looks wonderful. But the main thing that surprised us was definitely the way the staff made it their biggest effort to give us the perfect stay. A big, big compliment to all of them!

The Oberforsthof. Magnificent Family and Wellnesshotel

If you are planning a trip to Austria, this is the hotel to visit. In the summer of 2009 we went to the Oberforsthof in St. Johann Alpendorf, with our family and friends. I can be very brief about it. I would recommend it to everyone. The beautiful garden, the natural pool and especially the service and cuisine are magnificent. Children are more than welcome, that goes without saying. Austria is truly the number one holiday destination for families!
