The drive to 4 star superior hotel DAS.GOLDBERG in Bad Hofgastein was a lovely one. Heavy snowfall had created this amazing scenery. The climb all the way up to the hotel was quite challenging, but was definitely worth it. When I walked into the hotel, the first thing that struck me was the lovely smell of fresh, roasted coffee. A good sign, instantly felt the cozyness and hospitality.
Sparkling smile & dito bubbles
The receptionist greeted us in the most friendly way and offered a fine glass of bubbles, while waiting for check-in. I walked around the lobby; a comfy setting with fireplace, cozy seating areas, framed pictures from the past, a huge panoramic window to enjoy the stunning views of the Bad Hofgastein valley and a leading role for domestic wood. Meanwhile that lovely smell of fresh coffee kept on tickling my nose….
Shining from a distance
There it was, the centerpiece, just next to the entrance of the restaurant! Shining in all its glory. The coffee roasting machine. Proud owner and host of DAS.GOLDBERG Georg Seer is passionate about roasting his own coffee beans. There are 2 different blends ‘Mein Goldener’ or ‘Mein Kräftiger’. Love it! To me a lovely cup of coffee is just as important as a comfy bed.
Nice to know: Of course they serve these blends at the hotel, but it’s also possible to take them home with you. To enjoy your ‘Golden moment’ a little while longer, once back home again.
The room: Warm colors, wood and Austrian Zirben scent
Once in the room we experienced the same kind of coziness as in the lobby. Warm colors, personal artwork on the walls and next to all the luxury amenities, again attention for scent. Love the detail of these jars with Zirben wood and lavender sprigsI in various spots in the room. Cool to be able to choose your own scent. We went for the freshly planed Zirben wood. It is said the typical Austrian Zirben has this soothing effect on body and mind…
Ski in – ski out & Apres ski within closest reach
I’m a big, big fan of ski in – ski out; this is pure luxury! No fuss getting into a packed skibus. Just grab your skis, step into your preheated boots, hop on and hit the slope next to the hotel. And for all your early birds out there: first track on a freshly groomed ski slope, every morning!
At the end of an intense day on the slopes – when you feel like having a drink – the hotel has its own apres ski Schirmbar. Start and finish of a skiday has never been so easy. Next to all the great amenities this hotel has to offer, this is really nice one.
Complete DAS.GOLDBERG day in the most relaxing way
After a couple of drinks in the Schirmbar we went back into the hotel. Time to head to the spa and wellness area, before dinner was about to be served.
On our way to the restaurant we walked past this display of exquisite wines. Perfect to get in the mood of what was waiting for us; beautiful dishes, like little works of art with exquisite flavors. The chef and his team definitely know about good cooking.
Straight into the heart
All good things unfortunately come to an end, even at this delightful hotel. After a lovely breakfast with homemade Nutella and warm waffles, we had to say goodbye. We believe, the name of this house couldn’t have been chosen better. DAS.GOLDBERG is definitely a house with a golden touch. The passion Vera and Georg Seer show by running this house in a warmly and relaxed way was truly felt by us. Georg’s roast coffee, the Zirben scent in the room, the convenience of ski in – ski out and the coziness of their own apres ski bar; it’s all so very well taken care of. And…for a romantic soul like me, the extensive wellness & spa area was a true hit, straight into the heart!
