Arriving at the Hotel Lux Alpinae in Sankt Anton immediately aroused my curiosity. A house so unconventional, built upon an extremely steep slope (40°) and with these mainly raw materials. Couldn’t wait to find out how it would be to stay here for a few days…Let me tell you about this remarkable place and the 5 reasons why you should definitely consider to stay here.
#1. Experience the unique combo of the urban vibe and informal atmosphere
The hotel’s design is spot on, at least that’s what I think. The well respected architect Georg Driendl – also responsible for the design of the Sankt Anton Cable Car Stations Galzigbahn and Rendlbahn – and the owners have done a wonderful job in combining this urban vibe with an informal atmosphere. When we arrived I was impressed with the construction of the building. The chosen materials, like raw concrete, glass and steel, are not the most common ones to use that prominently in a hotel. But once inside it really surprised me in the most pleasant way. The vibe is urban, relaxed, kinda cozy and inspiring. Due to the warm welcome of the proud owners Sabine and Alexander Kertess and their staff this house felt like home at once.
#2. Try the refined cuisine; tasty dishes are guaranteed!
I don’t know about you, but nothing makes me happier than ending an intense day on the slopes with a great dinner. The chef at Lux Alpinae definitely knows about good cooking. Every day a four course dinner is prepared and served with the utmost care. Meat, fish or vegetarian, it’s all there. Simply tell them what you fancy on the menu and they will gladly take care of it.
#3. Do the yoga & enjoy the wellness
Sankt Anton can be quite overwhelming and crowdy. It is without a doubt one of the most popular ski resorts in Austria. The village is also known for its legendary apres ski and the famous MooserWirt bar. Of course I had to experience the Mooserwirt myself. It’s fun but also quite intense to party over here. To keep yourself on track and in balance, it is actually great that the hotel offers in-house yoga sessions. Vinyasa Flow yoga instructor Trisha Mann will gladly help you to escape from hectic. Her classes are relaxed, challenging and just plain fun. Besides these sessions, the hotel also has this comfy wellness area with sauna and steam bath. Sabine and Alexander leave nothing to chance to make you feel reborn again.
#4. Check-out the the details! Will turn a smile on your face
Checking out the bed is the first I do when entering my hotelroom. Nothing can beat a comfy bed. I can reassure you that getting into bed here at night, will recover your body totally for a new day on the slopes. And if you wake up in the morning and hit the shower….the bright colors of the bathroom and big bubbly shampoo bottles will make you smile instantly!
#5. Feel the vibe: Climb it or admire it
The hotel has this unique amenity for daredevils. I didn’t feel the urge to do it and it is more admired than climbed. But who climbs, is also admired…:)
