Ever wondered how your ski-instructor got that perfect brown tan on his face? It was my ski-instructor Manfred who revealed the secret to me almost 14 years ago. I went to Serfaus together with my love, to ski for the very first time in my life. Nervous and trembling like a leaf for my first lesson, I met Manfred. He looked at me and saw at once that I was not at ease. He promised me that, by the end of the week, I could do the ‘red’ slope without fear. I laughed at him and told him that this was not going to happen; no red slope for me! I really didn’t want to look like Brigdet Jones on her first skibreak with Hugh Grant and loosing her goddess image at once.
A little round tin
Manfred was at that time in his late fifty’s, silver grey hair, a stubble beard, blue eyes and a very charming glance. He told me that every ski-instructor carried a little round tin Latschenkiefer-crème in the pocket. Not only for a faster brown tan, but also to protect against cold temperatures.
The part that I was most interested in – of course – was the fact that it gives you that perfect ski-holiday brown tan, that everybody wants to have before returning back home. Latschenkiefer crème is a natural cream with medicinal ingredients that is extracted from the growing European pine in the Alps. It is ideal for natural skin care. It gives you a balanced, smooth renewed and shinny skin. We’ve been using it for quite some time now and it is true. This product delivers – if properly used – the perfect ski-tan on your face.
Two brands we’ve tried: Arlberger Latschenkiefer-crème ( Bano, St.Anton, Tirol ) and Tiroler Hochgebirgs Latschenkiefersalbe ( Fa.Hofmann Kossen, Tirol ).
We have a slight preference for the Arlberger version. It is softer and easier to rub in. But both give the same result and are available online. The Tiroler Hochgebirgs Latschenkiefersalbe, is available at Van Beek Sport
*Warning: Be careful and use properly. Don’t use Latschenkiefer-crème as a sun protection cream. It has no sunscreen in it. Always put on a sun protection cream first, before using the Latschenkiefer-crème. And please do not use the cream on children, because of their delicate skin!
