Recently l went to the beautiful Salzbugerland to enjoy Hinterglemm in all its winter glory. Not my first time at this lovely Alpine village, but my first time ever though, visiting the ADLER RESORT. I was there to attend the Grand Opening event and experience the ‘YouareAdler’ way of being a guest at this brand new house.
It’s your first time in hotspot ski-resort Sölden and you only have 48 hours to explore it. What should you definitely do and where should you go, to get the best first impression of this very versatile ski resort? A couple of weeks ago I was there. It inspired me to write down this checklist. A list that will guide you along the finest spots Sölden has to offer. According to me, obviously..
The drive to 4 star superior hotel DAS.GOLDBERG in Bad Hofgastein was a lovely one. Heavy snowfall had created this amazing scenery. The climb all the way up to the hotel was quite challenging, but was definitely worth it. When I walked into the hotel, the first thing that struck me was the lovely smell of fresh, roasted coffee. A good sign, instantly felt the cozyness and hospitality.
It doesn’t happen everyday that I get to stay in a real castle that goes back to 1150. You can imagine how excited I was. We were heading there by car and saw it looming in the distance. This beautiful, white Schloss on top of the hill, overlooking the valley of Mittersill. It had been snowing the whole day and created this fairytale picture perfect!
The ice Q restaurant in Sölden! Never heard of it? That’s almost impossible. If you’ve seen the latest Bond film SPECTRE – like millions of us around the globe – you must have seen it. Not in its actual restaurant setting though, but as a futurist hospital where villain Christoph Waltz pursues his devilish plans. I had to see this cool spot with my own eyes and walk in 007’s footsteps. When I recently visited Sölden I took the opportunity to go there at 3.048m. above sea level. Let me tell you the 5 reasons why you should visit the ice Q too!
There is always much to derive from the check-in experience in a hotel. My expectations were high this time. I had already heard a lot about Das Central and I was wondering how it would be to spend 2 nights in this top notch hotel, the only 5 star house in Sölden.
To me one of the best parts of being on the slopes is, that joyful moment when you kick off your ski’s to go for lunch. I love these endless lunches, high up in the mountains, preferably sitting outside in the winter sun. It may sound a bit crazy, but the level of cuisine and service on the slopes is definitely something I keep in mind, when deciding where to go for a ski trip. Don’t settle for uninspired, soulless, self-service restaurants. It takes away so much of that lovely, traditional ski-vibe. Make sure to enjoy it to the fullest and choose the ones, where they waiter your table in Tracht and serve delicious homemade dishes, mostly based on family recipes. That’s the way you want it to be. Agree? Check the ones on my list, for sure they will give you that typical Austrian feeling!
Very soon we are leaving for our next trip. I am pretty excited about this, will be my first time to South Tyrol! I always love the researching part before traveling to a new place. It makes me want to go there asap. Because this region is on my wishlist for quite some time now, I’ve been surfing the web extensively lately. The surroundings of South Tyrol are well known for its beauty. The mountain views, palm trees and subtropical temperatures; can’t wait to experience and absorb it all. But what else is typical for this region? What should we definitely do, see, eat, drink? I’ve made a list with 10 things about South Tyrol, based on what I’ve read online and heard from locals and friends.
Of course the concert is one of the great things to go to, during Closing Weekend. But for those of you who are not that much into this music, there are loads of other great things to do and places to go to in Ischgl. I’ve selected my favorite ones and love to share them with you. It’s a combination of fine restaurants, nice spots for a drink and/or dance and experiencing the brand new, state-of-art gondola lift.
Next to all the luxurious features that come with the 4 Star Superior hotel rating, there’s this very special feature. Only to be found at the MOOSER Hotel. Eugen Scalet told me already that the ‘Mother of all Après-Ski huts’ – his MooserWirt – is part of the MOOSER hotel. Sounds good to me; Stay, Sleep and Party all in one place. But it even gets better. Only for hotel guests there is a connecting door, that leads you directly to the MooserWirt! Straight into the party heart of Sankt Anton. Doesn’t your heart beat faster knowing about this now?
