In my earlier post about our first trip to South Tyrol I promised to share more about our hotel in Naturno, close to Merano. Well here it is, 4 great reasons to stay at Spa & Family Resort Sonnenhof.
This summer we finally did it. We went to South Tyrol. Visiting this region had been on our wishlist for so long and now the time had come. Curious what the boys and I have been doing in beautiful South Tyrol? Check our sightseeing tips below.
Let me tell you about this ‘Geheimtipp’ Hilberkeller in Kuens. This lovely place in the middle of the beautiful vineyards and apple orchards in the Meran region, first caught my attention on Instragram. While I was preparing my first trip to Südtirol, their gallery was a great inspiration. It didn’t take long before I got in touch with Andreas Platter – son of the owners – and heard more about the restaurant, its rich history (the farm goes back to 1369!), the fine dishes they serve and the must-sees in the area. I could sense that they are really proud of their restaurant, traditions and life surrounded by all these gifts of nature. Of course I wanted to go there and see this place with my own eyes.
I am happy to share this last one in the range of beautiful Chalet Villages, at least for now….I’ve discovered many more of these treasures worth sharing, so stay tuned for more in the future. Now…let me show you the Chalet Village Böhmerwald in the beautiful Bohemian Forest; last but definitely not least!
Previously I shared a post about the amazing Chalet Village Bergdorf Priesteregg and I promised that more of these treasures would follow later. Well….here is the next one in the range of Luxury Chalet Villages.
While researching I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that Austria is home to many more of these beautiful mountain villages. Again I’ve picked a traditional one. Wood, pure craftsmanship and lots of luxury extras, it’s all there! Check out the features of Almdorf St. Johann in Sankt Johann im Pongau.
I have to be honest with you. Being a mom of 3 boys, I’ve seen quite a few playgrounds over the last 11 years, but I didn’t know about this one in Sölden, Ötztal, yet. Not really suitable for the youngest family members I would say. This ‘ground’ is for the true daredevils amongst us. The fearless ones, the thrill seekers out there that yearn for a big time adrenaline shot. I’m pretty sure your teenage offspring would love to go here, even with mom and dad :). A little warning upfront is in place though; don’t show this post to your kids, if you’re not into some action. Showing to them is definitely going with them!
Obertauern is one of the hotspots among the major ski resorts in the Alps. It’s known for snow from November to early May, for après-ski and great events. But also for 100 kilometers of slopes and 26 ski lifts. The Ski-Round Super Seven carries skiers to the 7 highest peaks of Obertauern. Knowing this, I wanted to see and experience it myself. You guys know that I am a huge fan of the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis area, but hey…I am always in for something new! So, last January we went to Obertauern. I was very excited. Would it really be such a hotspot? In terms of ski experience, snow conditions, good cuisine, excellent service and fun in apresski? Expectations were high!
Yess! The first snow has fallen in Austria and that always makes me very happy but also a bit nervous. Which hotel are we going to book this year for our ski trip with the kids? If you guys know that feeling and could use some help to choose the one that will make your stay an unforgettable one, I’ve have handpicked some very fine hotels for you.
This hotel wil make you a very happy camper. At Schloss the magic words are caring, pampering and endless service. It’s all about making you feel like a king or queen.
Frauenschuh is the luxury brand I spotted a while ago. I saw our own Queen Maxima ( of The Netherlands ) on television at the annual Royal family photoshoot in Lech. She wore a gorgeous ski jacket that caught my attention. I googled it immediately and found out that it was from the collection of Frauenschuh, Kitzbühel.
