Recently l went to the beautiful Salzbugerland to enjoy Hinterglemm in all its winter glory. Not my first time at this lovely Alpine village, but my first time ever though, visiting the ADLER RESORT. I was there to attend the Grand Opening event and experience the ‘YouareAdler’ way of being a guest at this brand new house.
Our ride from hotspot Sölden to the chic spa resort of Bad Hofgastein was beautiful. The scenery changed gradually from the high peaks of Tyrol to the predominantly rolling Salzburgerland landscape. This was going to be another 48 hours in a very different setting and vibe, but with one consistent feature in both resorts: fresh snow!
It’s your first time in hotspot ski-resort Sölden and you only have 48 hours to explore it. What should you definitely do and where should you go, to get the best first impression of this very versatile ski resort? A couple of weeks ago I was there. It inspired me to write down this checklist. A list that will guide you along the finest spots Sölden has to offer. According to me, obviously..
It doesn’t happen everyday that I get to stay in a real castle that goes back to 1150. You can imagine how excited I was. We were heading there by car and saw it looming in the distance. This beautiful, white Schloss on top of the hill, overlooking the valley of Mittersill. It had been snowing the whole day and created this fairytale picture perfect!
To me one of the best parts of being on the slopes is, that joyful moment when you kick off your ski’s to go for lunch. I love these endless lunches, high up in the mountains, preferably sitting outside in the winter sun. It may sound a bit crazy, but the level of cuisine and service on the slopes is definitely something I keep in mind, when deciding where to go for a ski trip. Don’t settle for uninspired, soulless, self-service restaurants. It takes away so much of that lovely, traditional ski-vibe. Make sure to enjoy it to the fullest and choose the ones, where they waiter your table in Tracht and serve delicious homemade dishes, mostly based on family recipes. That’s the way you want it to be. Agree? Check the ones on my list, for sure they will give you that typical Austrian feeling!
At this moment Austria is still my number one winter sports destination, but I must say South Tyrol is a serious runner up. Why? Have a look at my selection of ‘Happiness Creators’. These beauties are here to guarantee a wonderful winter time in the South Tyrol mountains.
The Oktoberfest is over and wintersports season is about to start; the perfect time to do this ‘in between’ thing, that you’ve probably always wanted to do: Detox! Finally getting rid of all the bad stuff that’s been in there for so long. Cleanse your body, mind and soul and make this fresh and fruity reborn start. Curious to find out more about it, I dived into this world of detox & spa hotels in Austria, Germany and South Tyrol. Must admit, quite tempting to try this major clean-up in these heavenly surroundings.
In my earlier post about our first trip to South Tyrol I promised to share more about our hotel in Naturno, close to Merano. Well here it is, 4 great reasons to stay at Spa & Family Resort Sonnenhof.
Once a year the entire ski world goes to the picturesque and upscale ski resort Kitzbühel in Tyrol. For one week this charming village is packed with visitors from all over the world. Press, top notch ski athletes and many, many celebrities; Everyone is into the ‘Hahnenkamm Fever’. The best ski athletes in the world gather in Kitzbühel to celebrate the highlight of the World Cup calendar. The ‘Streif’ is regarded THE BOMB. The most legendary and spectacular ski slope in the world and asks the utmost of the skiers.
I don’t know about you guys, but around this time of year – with the holiday’s coming up – I always have to think about the classic video by Wham! from 1984. Writing this blogpost, I realized that it’s been 30 years!! since I sat down for the TV mesmerizing, when the iconic ‘Last Christmas’ video aired for the first time. What a romantic and cosy setting to celebrate Christmas with friends in a chalet in the snow. It was definitely something I wanted to experience once in my life.
